Target protests call for return of DEI

(CNN)– Dozens of protests took place at Target stores over the weekend.

Organizers are calling on the retail chain to re-instate its diversity, equity and inclusion policies.

The protest comes on the fifth anniversary of the murder of George Floyd, the Minneapolis man who died while in police custody.

Target is headquartered in Minneapolis and after Floyd’s death the company made a pledge to the black community it would boost its efforts on inclusion.

But earlier this year Target rolled back its DEI programs.

The company’s decision created a backlash.

Leaders in the black faith community called for Sunday’s protests.
