Companies warn of consumer boycotts
(CNN)– Companies are warning investors about the risks of becoming the next target of consumer boycotts from both the political right and left.
Within annual regulatory filings corporate America is already required to disclose various risks to their businesses.
Now an increasing number of corporations are advising investors about customer and legal backlash to diversity, equity and inclusion policies, and environmental, social, and governance initiatives.
Companies including Walmart, Target, Home Depot, and Corona-parent Constellation Brands are giving notice of the risks of rolling back these programs.
