South Carolina babies born on May 29 eligible for special grant

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina babies born May 29 will get a special birthday gift from the state.

State Treasurer Curtis Loftis says any South Carolina baby born on May 29 will be eligible for $529 as part of the 529 Grant to be used towards a future scholarship account.

The grants are privately funded.

To receive the PalmettoBaby grant, parents of babies born on May 29 must complete the grant application and open a Future Scholar account by September 2, 2025.
