Starbucks scales back point perks

(CNN)– Starbucks customers will soon see a major change to the coffee chain’s loyalty program.

Starting June 24, Starbucks will eliminate the 25 star bonus for customers in the effort to boost profits.

The change will apply to those who bring in a personal or reusable cup for drink orders.

A Starbucks spokesperson says customers will instead earn double stars on their entire order.

The latest change means that anyone ordering just a drink will get fewer stars.

Some good news though, Starbucks said it will keep the 10 cent discount when customers use a personal cup.
