Preliminary results are in for S.C. special elections

Columbia, SC (WOLO) — People in the Town of Irmo have cast their ballots in a Special Municipal election held Tuesday for a vacant council seat.

Town Hall officials report Mike Ward as the projected winner. Ward with more than 300 votes, beat out Chairman of the Irmo Events Committee,  George Frazier who garnered more than 150 votes, and former Scana Executive, Ed Greco who walked away with less a 100 ballots according to preliminary results.

The seat was left vacant after former Councilman Erik Sickinger resigned after serving 3 years following an arrest in March where he was accused of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor under 16, and one count of Luring a Child.

Another Special election ended with an upset Tuesday night. According to the South Carolina Elections Commission,  Democrat Keishan Scott of Lee is the projected winner for the State House District 50 seat. Scott beat incumbent Republican William Oden of Sumter with 70% percent of the vote to Oden’s 29% percent.
