Richland County Council Members pass hate crime ordinance
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– On Tuesday, June 3, Richland County Council Members passed a hate crime ordinance.
The Hate Intimidation Ordinance will penalize anyone who harms a person or their property due to their race, religion, sex, gender, nationality, or disability.
Any offenders will be charged with a misdemeanor, and either face a fine of up to $500 or imprisonment up to 30 days or both.
