Costco testing tech to speed up checkout lines

(CNN)– Costco customers may soon be able to avoid lines at the check-out register.

The company is testing out a feature that lets consumers scan the items they want and pay for them via phone.

Not many details have been released by officials, but information on the self-explanatory “scan and pay” technology is posted on Costco’s website.

More than 50% of Costco members have downloaded the company’s app and officials say this could help people get out of the warehouse quicker.
