ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says a reward is being offered in connection with a March mass shooting during a local party.
According to the sheriff, the U.S. Marshals Service has joined the sheriff’s office to offer a $5,000 reward that has now been changed to $10,000.
“The US Marshals Service has joined with us to offer a $5,000 reward. This brings the weight of the county, the US Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force, SLED, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sumter Police Department to bear on this case,” says the sheriff.
18-year-old Sincere Gibbs of Sumter is wanted on seven counts of attempted murder after deputies say he shot into a crowd on March 29 at a party on Five Chop Road.
Seven party-goers were inured during the shooting and multiple people were trampled while trying to get away.
Warrants against Gibbs include seven counts of attempted murder, three counts of instigating a riot with a weapon, one count of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and one count of aggravated breach of peace.
“These could have just as easily been murder warrants instead of attempted murder. This individual is dangerous because he didn’t care who he hit,” Sheriff Ravenell continues.
Anyone with information on Gibbs’ location is urged to call the U.S. Marshals at 1-877-WANTED2 (926-8332) or call the Orangeburg County Communications Center at 803-534-3550.
