Severe weather blows through the Midlands
Columbia, SC (WOLO) — We head outside and take a look at some of the images we saw during the height of the severe weather that blew through the Midlands Monday night.
The areas taking the biggest brunt of the storm included Fairfield, Lexington and Richland Counties.
High winds. Heavy rain. And shelf clouds helped to make conditions dangerous. The national weather service did indicate several areas of rotation, but as quickly as it came in, it left just as quickly.
Heavy downpours causing downed limbs, trees and power lines.
We also had a report of a tree down near broad river road. no injuries have been reported at last check. And many experienced, and some are still without power at this hour here in the Midlands. The three major electric companies are reporting several outages still.
Roughly five thousand homes were without power at the height of the storm. But things are coming back online as the night progresses.
At last check there were still over three thousand homes without power Monday night.
