Man accused of fraudulently purchasing goods being sold on social media

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– A man is accused of fraudulently purchasing goods being sold on social media was charged this week, say officers.
K’Mon Leman Nyzear Myers, 20, was identified as a suspect after police say they received multiple reports of a man using an app-based financial transaction to fraudulently purchase goods being sold on social media.
Investigators say the reported exchanges between the buyer and sellers were made in-person.
Myers was placed in custody Wednesday and charged with 15 counts of financial transaction card fraud and six counts of obtaining signature or property under false pretenses-$2,000 or less.
He also was charged with an unrelated theft of electric current.
Myers was booked at the county detention center, and his bond was set Thursday at $77,500 on charges filed by the Sumter Police Department as well as warrants served by the county.
Police say he is currently still in jail.
