SC House Majority Leader files ethics complaint against accused lawmaker

Hoitt says the complaint will start the process of removing may from office.

 

 

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina House Majority Leader is calling for a Lexington County representative to be removed from office.
Representative David Hoitt of Pickens County and leader of the house GOP caucus announced Friday he has filed a complaint with the house ethics committee against Representative RJ May.
Hoitt says the complaint will start the process of removing may from office.

Thursday, May was arraigned in federal court on ten counts of distributing child sexual abuse material.
His bond was denied.
According to the US Attorney’s Office, if May is convicted he faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
