Horry Co. teen intended to join terrorist group, cause harm: SLED
Horry Co., S.C. (WPDE)–A teenage boy was charged with acts of terrorism by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
According to the release, Daniel Fox Fischer, 17, was charged with threatening or conspiring to threaten real or personal property using a destructive device and possessing or using a weapon of mass destruction for an act of terrorism.
The warrants state that between April 2024 and August 2024, Fischer communicated his intent to join a foreign terrorist organization, conspired with multiple people and threatened to cause harm by using a destructive device.
The SSA Truss and FBI agents found that Fischer obtained instructional videos for making an explosive device and recipes for making explosive material.
According to the warrants, agents recovered pictures of Fischer expressing his support for ISIS while wearing a vest similar to an explosive vest.
Fischer intended to use a destructive device against targets within the state, according to the warrants and confidential source information from a reliable witness.
The Conway Police Dept. requested the SLED investigation, and Fischer was booked into the J. Reuben Long County Detention Center Juvenile Facility in Horry County.
