Florence Co. deputies investigate ‘horrific crime’

Florence, SC (WOLO) — Florence County deputies are investigating what they are calling a “horrific crime”.
Investigators searching for a missing North Carolina woman leading them to the home of Charles Antwine in Lake City.

Deputies were met with a strange smell coming from the home. After obtaining with a search warrant, deputies went inside and found Antwine sitting on a couch with containers filled with human remains. Deputies believe the remains are those of the missing woman.

Alewine is charged with desecration of human remains.
the woman’s cause of death is still unknown.
