Kershaw Co. actively search for suspect accused of ramming into cruiser

Kershaw Co.,SC (WOLO) — The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office started searching for a suspect accused of ramming into one of the department’s patrol cars. According to authorities, around 8 p.m. Thursday night the driver of a grey colored Chevrolet SUV pictured here rammed into a Kershaw County vehicle during a pursuit.

Deputies tell us the suspect, described as a white male ran into a nearby wooded area. Deputies are still actively searching for the searching for the man they was wearing sweat pants, no shoes and no shirt.
Deputies are asking those who live in or may need to drive through the area to avoid Lachicotte Road, Ward Road, and Roseborough Road in the Lugoff area where they are actively trying to locate the suspect (9:15 p.m.).
KCSO and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) urge you to stay away from the search area. You are also be asked to keep the doors to your homes and vehicles locked and call 911 if you see anything that appears suspicious.
Update (10 p.m.) The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office say they have positively identified the suspect they have been searching for since 8 p.m. Thursday night, but say they have not been able to capture him. Authorities plan to remain in the areas listed above throughout the night.
