Petco Love Pick Me! SC offers free, low-fee adoptions at Petco centers statewide

South Carolina is gearing up for its largest dog and cat adoption event of the year as Petco Love Pick Me! SC kicks off from June 20 to June 29.
(WCIV) — South Carolina is gearing up for its largest dog and cat adoption event of the year as Petco Love Pick Me! SC kicks off from June 20 to June 29.
The event aims to find homes for 2,500 dogs and cats in just 10 days.
Throughout the event, shelters and rescue groups will offer free or low-fee adoptions to make bringing home a pet more accessible than ever. Nearly every Petco pet care center in the state will host adoptable pets, providing families a chance to meet their future furry friends in a convenient, welcoming space.
This statewide adoption celebration is powered by Petco Love and organized by the Charleston Animal Society’s No Kill South Carolina initiative. It brings together more than 90 animal shelters, rescue organizations, and Petco pet care centers, making it easier for residents to find their new furry companions.
“Over the past seven years, we’ve helped more than 12,000 pets find loving homes,” said No Kill South Carolina Project Officer Abigail Appleton, PMP, CAWA. “We cannot wait to see how many more adoptions we can make happen for these amazing pets across our state.”
Petco pet care centers will have everything needed for new pets, including food bowls, crates, beds, collars, and leashes.

As part of Petco Love Pick Me! SC, the Charleston Animal Society’s Simon Greer Mobile Spay-Neuter Clinic will travel the state to ensure hundreds of pets receive vital pre-adoption care, including spay-neuter surgery and vaccinations. Under state law, pets must be spayed or neutered before they can be officially adopted.
“Petco Love Pick Me! SC showcases the incredible impact we can have when shelters, rescues, and communities unite with one mission: to save pet lives,” said Petco Love President Susanne Kogut. “At Petco Love, we’re proud to power this statewide initiative that opens hearts and homes to thousands of pets across South Carolina. Every adoption is a life transformed—and a testament to the power of collaboration and compassion- and of course, love.”
