A Newberry church plans to open as a cooling center

Newberry Co., SC (WOLO) — One Newberry County place of worship is doing their part to help area residents beat the heat as we continue to experience the sweltering temperatures.

The United Methodist Church located along O’Neal Street plans to open their doors as a cooling shelter.

The church will open up from 10am until 5 in the evening every day until further notice. Officials say sandwiches and refreshments will be available at the center for those in need as well.
