Judge blocks President Trump’s efforts to stop international students from attending Harvard

(CNN) — A federal judge has indefinitely blocked President Trump’s efforts to prevent international students from coming to Harvard University.

The preliminary injunction extends a temporary block the judge previously issued after the administration revoked the school’s certification in a program that allows Harvard to host foreign students.

International students make up roughly a quarter of the school’s student body. The order made today Friday, June 20, 2025 did not address Trump’s proclamation that suspended international visas for new students.

After the ruling was announced, Trump posted on social media that the administration is working with Harvard to address their  “large scale improprieties.” He also wrote a possible deal may be announced soon.
