Lexington County man sentenced to life in prison for 2021 shooting

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A Lexington County man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a man back in 2021 near the Red Bank area.

Investigators say in November of 2021 Mark Scheibler shot Jimmy Johnson Jr., multiple times following a previous dispute.

He was arrested the next month following a standoff with law enforcement.

Authorities say in 2024, he pled guilty to shooting his girlfriend in 2021 in Richland County.

Scheibler will be taken to the South Carolina Department of Corrections to serve his sentence.
