Kershaw Co. investigates shooting sending one to area hospital

Kershaw Co. , SC (WOLO) — The Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that took place Friday afternoon in broad daylight. According to deputies, they were called to the 800 block of Watts Hill Road in Lugoff just before 2:30 p.m. for a shooting. Several witnesses told authorities they saw three men who were walking down the street begin to argue with a person sitting on the front porch of a his home.

Officials say the verbal altercation turned into an exchange of gunfire by the two groups leaving one of three men walking by struck in the arm. That unidentified man was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injury. The two men that victim was with left the area in what was described as a tan or brown Chevrolet Tahoe.

At this point in their investigation, the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office say they do not believe this was a random incident, and that it’s more likely the two groups involved knew each other.
