CPD determine two deadly shootings were ‘justifiable’
Columbia,SC (WOLO) — The Columbia Police Department is updating information on two deadly shootings that took place in the capital city. According to CPD, police were called to Carolina Lodge, formerly known as Coronet Motel along North Main Street back in May. When authorities arrived they found a man dead in the parking lot. The Richland County Coroner later identified as Anthony Doctor. Police believe he acted as the aggressor in an incident where the individual shot him while trying to protect themselves.
In the second incident, Police say they received a shotspotter alert leading them to the 2500 block of Booker Street where they discovered two people, one man and one woman both shot in the lower body. A third victim, 44 year old Timothy Jacobs was transported to an area hospital with a gunshot wound where he was pronounced dead. Columbia Police believe Jacobs was the primary aggressor in this case as well. Monday night CPD closed those cases saying both shootings were
” deemed justifiable” homicides where both male victims were able to protect themselves from both Doctor and Jacobs.
