Lottery tickets can now be purchased with debit card in SC

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– Starting Tuesday July 1st, officials say lottery players can now purchase tickets with a debit card.

Previously tickets could only be purchased with cash.

Officials say credit card use will still be prohibited.

The change was brought on by a provision included in the recently-passed state budget.

Store owners will have the option to opt out of the new provision.

There will be no additional charge for using a debit card.
