SLED charges Newberry County man with sex crimes involving minor

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)–  A 26-year-old man is being charged by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) on two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a
minor, says SLED.

SLED is charging Tyreek Latravious Brown with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor – victim under 16 years of age – 2nd degree, luring or enticing a child – victim under 16 years of age – to harm with unlawful purpose, and trafficking in persons – victim under 18 years of age – 1st offense.

Brown was charged on Tuesday, July 1, and booked into the Newberry County Detention Center.

He is accused of hiding a 15-year-old runaway, and providing her with illegal drugs between June 14, and June 21.

Investigators say Brown knew the teen was a runaway.

The case was investigated by the Newberry Police Department, Newberry County Sheriff’s Office and SLED.
