SWANSEA, S.C. (WOLO) – Swansea police arrested a suspect following a chase back in June.

Police say on Thursday, June 26 at approximately 2 p.m., a Swansea officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a license tag violation on East 1st Street.

But the driver kept driving at a high rate of speed, while throwing items out of the vehicle.

Officers say the chase ended at a residence on St. Matthews Road, where the suspect ran into a home.

Swansea police, along with Pelion police and Lexington County deputies searched the home, found the suspect hiding in a back bedroom and arrested them without incident.

According to investigators, they recovered a backpack and a small bag that were seen thrown from the vehicle during the chase.

Inside the bags, they found multiple firearms, including two Glock handguns, one with an extended magazine and a substantial quantity of substances believed to be illegal narcotics.

The suspect was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center facing several charges.

The investigation into this incident continues.
