Investigation into Ram pickup recalls opened

(CNN)– Recalls of more than a million Ram pickup trucks are being investigated by federal auto safety regulators.

An issue is whether the recalls were sufficient enough to fix a flaw that could lead to the vehicles rolling away unexpectedly.

The defect in question could lead to a pickup’s transmission being shifted out of park without having a foot on the brake pedal or a key in the ignition.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration got 20 reports indicating previous recall repairs did not fix the problem.
