CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will temporarily close and detour the Sunny Plain Road bridge over I-26 in Calhoun County, said officials.

SCDOT said the closure will happen to replace the bridge beginning July 21.

The replacement is part of the I-26 Widening and Improvements Project and will allow widening of the interstate to continue.

The closure is expected to last until Fall of 2026.

As part of the closure, a detour route will be put in place using US 21, Caw Caw Highway and US 176.
