Pedestrian struck & killed by Freightliner truck on I-77 overnight

RICHLAND CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Highway Patrol says a pedestrian was struck and killed by a Freightliner truck on I-77 North overnight.

Master Trooper William Bennett says at 3:15 a.m., the truck driver was travelling north near mile marker 6 when they struck the pedestrian in the roadway.

The pedestrian died on scene from their injuries while the truck driver wasn’t hurt.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office has not identified the victim as of yet.

Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.
