RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sheriff Leon Lott says CK Mart’s lottery license has been temporary suspended after a confirmed incident in which a lottery ticket was sold to an underage person.

On Friday, July 11, in response to community complaints, deputies saw a cashier at CK Mart on Broad River Road sell a lottery ticket to a customer under the age of 18, says RCSD.

“All licensed retailers are expected to follow the law and maintain responsible business practices. Violations like this will not be tolerated,” “ says Sheriff Lott.

This act constitutes a direct violation of state law and lottery retailer regulations, which strictly prohibit the sale of lottery products to minors.

The violation was reported to the South Carolina Lottery Commission and as a result effective immediately the CK Mart is prohibited from selling all lottery products, according to officials.

I would also like to thank the South Carolina Education Lottery for taking quick action with this suspension,” continued Sheriff Lott.
