SC Forestry: Harbison Forest to stay closed during search after dog attack

(RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Forestry Commission says Harbison State Forest will remain closed through Tuesday, July 22.

Officials say this comes after a series of incidents involving large, aggressive dogs in the Broad River Road area, including a serious attack at Harbison State Forest early Saturday morning.

Friday, July 18, officials say they have set up trail cameras in the forest and are patrolling the area on foot and with drones.

Forestry officials posted pictures of some dogs that they say based on victim’s statements appear to be the ones involved in the attack.

Law enforcement officers will patrol the trail system and off-trail paths today, Friday, July 18, and over the weekend to search for the dogs with assistance from SLED, SCDNR, and other agencies.
