SCHP: Two killed in three vehicle collision on I-26 in Newberry

NEWBERRY CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Highway Patrol says two people were killed in a three vehicle collision on I-26 East Monday night.

Cpl. David Jones says it happened at mile marker 66 around 11 p.m.

According to Cpl. Jones, all vehicles involved were travelling east, when a 2021 Chevy Van struck the rear of a 2006 Ford Van, which caused the Ford to spin around and hit the side of a 2021 Nissan Four Door vehicle.

The driver of the Ford Van died at the hospital, while the passenger of the Chevy Van died on scene. The driver of the Chevy was seriously injured and taken to the hospital but the Nissan driver wasn’t hurt.

The Newberry County Coroner’s Office has not released the identities of the victims as of yet.

Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.
