Midlands man accused of impersonating SLED officer

Lexington Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Investigators with State Law Enforcement Division say a Midlands man is accused of impersonating one of their officers.

According to an incident report, on July 9th David Stuckey of Lexington called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and claimed to be an undercover SLED agent and said he had tracked a suspect who was stealing boats from South Carolina to Florida.

When officials asked him for credentials he emailed them a picture of a SLED badge.

On July 10th investigators say Stuckey contacted the Anderson Co. Sheriff’s Office and made the same claim, adding that the subject had stolen his state issued gun and his “undercover police car”.

Stuckey was an officer with the Columbia Police Department from 1970-73.

SLED officials say Stuckey has never been employed by SLED.
