‘It gives them hope’: Sellers hands out new action figure during Gamecock meet & greet at wildlife safari

SALLEY, SC (WOLO) — What do action figures, signed football memorabilia and a wildlife safari have in common? On this late July Sunday, just one thing: Gamecock Football.

Early in the morning, six gamecocks took a trip to Eudora Farms Wildlife Safari.

LaNorris and Jayden sellers, Gerald and Jalon Kilgore, Mazeo Bennett and Dylan Stewart all took an hour signing autographs and taking pictures with young gamecock fans from near Aiken South Carolina.

“Nah this kinda different,” Sophomore edge rusher Dylan Stewart said. “This the first time being around fans and animals at the same time.”

Gamecock fans brought footballs, helmets, jerseys, custom Superman T-shirts and even a miniature Williams-Brice Stadium to get signed.

LaNorris Sellers, a South Florence, South Carolina native, knew what it was like to be in the shoes of the young fans.

“Just cause I know I was one of these kids growing up just to make their day it makes my day as well,” Sellers said.

Sellers put his super hero status into a new light, with the first look at his own LaNorris Sellers collegiate legends action figure.

“I saw it a couple of months ago but to see it in person it’s just amazing.,” Seller said. “It’s cool. I think I’m pretty much the first player ever with an action figure so to be that staple is cool to be a part of.”

Sellers is the first of a select few players in the country to get their own action figure.

“I like that,” Steward added. “I’m trying to get me one.”

Sellers signed and gave away the very first shipment to young Gamecock fans.

really,” Seller said. “I know me growing up, having players, having posters, stuff like that just gave me hope looking at it every morning when I woke up. So I think seeing an action figure is good for them.”

The meet and greet was at a safari after all, and the fun rolled on with a safari ride, getting up close and personal with giraffes, water buffalo, zebras, camels, emus and hundreds of other exotic animals.

“Yeah I like animals,” Sellers added. “I liked going to the zoo when I was young. I took a couple field trips, our parents took us growing up so it’s just good to be out here.”

Sellers and sophomore receiver Mazeo Bennett even took time amongst the wildlife to toss a football around.

The early Heisman candidate has had a busy summer, but will be ready to lock in when football season officially starts this week with training camp.

“Just having a happy medium of when it’s time for football, it’s time for football,” Seller said. “And when it’s time for like, signing autographs and stuff, I’m here doing that.”
