Trooper struck by box truck while on duty passes away

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Officials with the South Carolina Department of Public Safety say Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks passed away Wednesday night.

Trooper Ricks was struck while performing a traffic stop in Orangeburg early Sunday morning on I-26 EB near mile marker 165.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.

The driver who investigators say struck Trooper Ricks, Anthony Aydlette, was arrested and charged with Driving Under Suspension.
