Law enforcement agencies, first responders pay respect to fallen SC trooper

 

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Early Friday morning, a procession was held along I-26 as SC Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks‘ remains were returned to the Midlands from a hospital in Charleston.

Law enforcement agencies and first responders all along the route lined the highway to pay their respects.

Officials with the South Carolina Department of Public Safety say Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks passed away Wednesday night.

Trooper Ricks was struck while performing a traffic stop in Orangeburg early Sunday morning on I-26 EB near mile marker 165.
