Funeral scheduled for fallen SC Trooper Dennis Ricks

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The state trooper who was struck and killed by a truck while on duty will be laid to rest this week.

Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks’ visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Dunbar Funeral Home.

His funeral starts Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. at Shandon Baptist Church.

According to investigators, Trooper Ricks was hit by a box truck during a traffic stop on I-26 in Orangeburg on August 10, and died days later.

He was 30 years old.

Police have since charged the driver of the truck, and authorities are reminding everyone to move over for law enforcement.
