Men’s Health Forum on Prostate Cancer at First Nazareth this Saturday

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – First Nazareth Baptist Church is hosting an important event to raise awareness on prostate cancer amongst black men.

The Men’s Health Forum starts Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church’s main sanctuary, 2351 Gervais St.

Curtis spoke with Andre’ Melvin, PhD, Greater Columbia Prostate Cancer Advocate, who says $25 gift cards will be given to the first 40 participating men over the age of 40.

There will be a viewing of a documentary called “The Black Walnut”, directed by prostate cancer survivor, Terrance Afer-Anderson. This film explores the prostate cancer disparity in African-American men.

Afer-Anderson will also moderate the forum.

There will also be refreshments and PSA screenings, plus a local Urologist and Urology Nurse Practitioner will be on hand for questions.
