Weight loss pill seeks approval

(CNN)– Eli Lilly says it will file for regulatory approval for its GLP1 weight loss pill called Orforglipron.

The latest results from a trial of the medication offer enough information for the drugmaker to ask for global approval this year.

Eli Lilly already makes the injectable drugs Zepbound for obesity along with Mounjaro and Trulicity for diabetes.

It is among several companies pursuing an effective pill form of the drugs.

In May, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration accepted Novo Nordisk’s marketing application for an oral version of its weight-loss drug, Wegovy.
