Mother arrested after juvenile escapee found in car with her
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A 16-year-old, and her mother has been arrested after the juvenile escaped from DJJ on Sunday evening, said DJJ officials.
With the help of Richland County Sheriff’s Department, the City of Columbia Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, the teen was found was sometime later Sunday, August 31.
According to officials, the 16-year-old was found in a car with her mother Savannah Mills.
Mills was charged with aiding escape of a prisoner, and is at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
The teen was charged with escape and is detained at the Juvenile Detention Complex in Columbia.
SC DJJ says the incident is under investigation.
