South Carolina’s hands-free driving law goes into effect

 

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Listen up drivers, the state’s new hands free driving law goes into effect on Monday, Sept. 1.

Under the new law, drivers caught holding a cell phone, reading a text, or watching videos will be fined $100 dollars for the first offense.

Each additional violation in a three-year span would cost $200 and add two points to a driver’s license.

The law goes into effect September 1st.
