Thousands of users affected by Verzion outage

(CNN)– A major Verizon service outage across the country has been resolved.

At least 22,000 outages were reported Saturday, August 30, on the disruption-tracker website ‘Down-detector.’   

Most users who lost service saw their iPhones display a “SOS” or “SOS only” message at the top of their screen.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Verizon said the outage was due to a ‘software issue.’
