Orangeburg County deputies investigating after human remains found near highway
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg County deputies are investigating after human remains were found near a highway, said the sheriff’s office.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office said deputies are investigating the August 19 discovery of human remains located on Greywood Drive near Highway 21.
Deputies were made aware of the human remains after receiving a report of a possible presence of remains.
Upon arrival to the area, authorities confirmed that human remains had been found.
The identity of the individual and the cause of death is still under investigation.
Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell stated, “We are actively working this case and are committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding this discovery. We ask for the public’s assistance as we continue our investigation.”
The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office identified the remains as 29-year-old Maurice Green of Columbia. The cause of death has not yet been released.
