SCDC employee accused of assault in Family Dollar parking lot

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A SCDC employee has been arrested after deputies say she assaulted someone on Thursday night.

According to RCSD, 30-year-old Brittany Larkin is accused of putting her vehicle in drive, and intentionally using it as a weapon on September 18.

Officers say Larkin hit the victim’s passenger door, while the victim was backing out of a parking spot.

The hit caused major damage to the victim’s vehicle, and the incident was seen on video footage from the Broad River Road Family Dollar Store.

Richland County Sheriff’s Department says there were two children in Larkin’s vehicle at the time of the assault.

There were no injuries sustained during the incident.

However, investigators say Larkin and the victim are known to each other.

Larkin was charged with simple assault (1st degree) and booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
