RCSD investigating fatal Mellowood Drive shooting

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal shooting Mellowood Drive, says the sheriff’s dept.

Deputies say the fatal shooting occurred on Sunday, September 21, in the 4300 block of Mellowood Drive just before 2 a.m.

After receiving a ShotSpotter alert, deputies arrived to the area and found an adult male victim outside of a home with a gunshot wound in the upper body area.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

During a search for evidence in the surrounding area, a second adult male victim was located unresponsive outside of a second home.

After being taken to the hospital by EMS, the victim was pronounced dead, says RCSD.

Deputies say the suspect(s) fled before their arrival.
