America’s new top-selling beer

(CNN)– The U.S. has a new top-selling beer.

Michelob Ultra has overtaken previous leader Modelo Especial in retail sales by volume, according to reports from Circana.

Officials at Anheuser-Busch say this boost was largely helped by the launch of their non-alcoholic Michelob Ultra Zero.

Modelo’s parent company said the Trump Administration’s immigration policies have also affected its sales among latino consumers.

Overall the beer industry is struggling, retail sales for the first half of this year were just under 35 billion.

That’s a year-over-year drop of roughly 5 percent.
