Person arrested after fatal Aster Circle shooting, teen victim identified

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says a person has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting that happened on Aster Circle.
On Tuesday, September 23, around 5:30 p.m., deputies responded in the 200 block of Aster Circle in reference to a ShotSpotter alert.
When deputies arrived in the area of the alert, bystanders advised deputies that someone had been shot.
A juvenile male victim was found with gunshot wounds, and taken by EMS to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Paul Henry was identified as the suspect.
Deputies set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and were able to locate Henry and take him into custody, according to RCSD.
The investigation revealed that while walking in the neighborhood, Henry opened fire on two juvenile victims, one of them being the deceased victim.
The deceased victim was identified as Joshua Edmonds, 16, of Columbia by the Richland County Coroner’s Office.
Deputies say the second victim did not receive any gunshot wounds.
Richland County Sheriff’s Department says the events leading up to the shooting are still under investigation.
Henry is charged as an adult with murder, attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a firearm under 18.
He was taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and is awaiting a bond hearing.
