Travel industry could be impacted by possible government shut down

(CNN)– A government shutdown could cause big losses for the U.S. travel economy.

It could add up to about $1billion dollars a week, according to the U.S. Travel Association.

The group wants Congress to quickly come together on a plan that keeps the government running.

The CEO sent a letter to top Senate and House leaders Thursday, Sept. 25, saying a shutdown would strain the already-overextended workforce.

If the government does shut down, hiring, and training for new air traffic controllers would stop, and efforts to modernize the system would also be halted.
