Deputies: Suspect charged in connection with fatal shooting
Richland Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Richland Co. deputies say a suspect is in custody in connection with a shooting on Mellowood Dr.
Investigators say they responded to a ShotSpotter alert on Mellowood Dr. on September 21st.
When deputies arrived they say they found two men with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital with one Rickey Bates, 34, succumbing to his injuries.
Investigators say Benjamin Hampton, 31, was arrested on Monday and charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.
