Apple removes ICE tracking apps

(CNN)– Apple has removed tracking apps that alert people about sightings of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in an area.

These type of apps have been available on Apple’s app store since the Spring.

The removal follows a request from the Department of Justice.

In a statement, Apple said it removed the apps Thursday, Oct 2, after communication with law enforcement.

Apple told the creator of “Ice-block” in an email, the app does not comply with its app store guidelines.
