Serve and Connect held ribbon-cutting for new community center named after fallen officer
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Serve and Connect held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new community center and headquarters for the organization.
The community center is called “Greg’s Place”, and it’s named after the late Officer Greg Alia, who was killed in the line of duty on September 30, 2015.
According to the late officer’s wife, Kassy Alia Ray, Greg’s Place is designed to increase access to local resources, create opportunities for neighbors to connect, and provide a safe space for youth.
The City of Forest Acres is also hosting a concert on Friday night (Oct. 3) at 6 p.m. at Gills Creek Memorial Park.
Several vendors are donating a portion of proceeds to Serve and Connect.
