Former Columbia Police officer charged with criminal sexual conduct, misconduct in office
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A former Columbia Police officer is charged with criminal sexual conduct and misconduct in office.
Investigators with SLED say on September 6th of last year Caleb Hickmon-Payne arrested a suspect for DUI following an accident.
Officials say he then drove the suspect to a secluded area and had sex with them in exchange for making the charges go away.
SLED says Hickmon-Payne then booked the suspect anyway.
Investigators say the suspect’s claim was substantiated by the former officer’s in-car camera and body-cam.
