President Trump signs proclamation on bus tariffs

(CNN)– Friday, October 17, President Trump signed a proclamation paving the way for higher tariffs on imported trucks, buses, and their parts.

It’s a move the White House says is aimed at protecting U.S. manufacturing.

Beginning November 1st, the tariff rate for medium, and heavy-duty trucks and truck parts will jump to 25% while buses including school and public transit models will face a 10% rate.

The administration says exceptions will apply to vehicles and parts from Mexico, and Canada that meet the terms of the U.S., Mexico, Canada agreement.
